A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of seeing Neil Halstead at Johnny Brenda’s. He is currently on tour with Jack Johnson and Rogue Wave and played at one of those big venues in Camden. I’m not a fan of large concerts so I wasn’t about to go to see a big show where the person I wanted to see wasn’t even headlining. However! I knew that he was going to be playing a select number of smaller shows throughout the country. Somehow, my wishes of a small show came true!
Neil is the singer of Mojave 3 and member of the extinct band, Slowdive. I’ve been listening to everything he’s been involved in for about 12 years, but it always seemed that I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I’ve never gotten to see him. Being that he’s one of my favorite musicians…up there with Morrissey and the Smiths…seeing him was definitely one of the highlights of my year. I also got to hug him and talk to him for a brief while…and probably making a fool of myself in the meantime. I took some photos, but I was more into taking it all in than getting a good photo. eh. Whatever.

I’ve been traveling a lot lately. I’m really tired, busy, and trying to get caught up with everything. So pardon the lack of images being posted in the last couple of weeks. There will be photos to come soon.
Nevertheless, I have been listening to a lot of music while driving. I seem to always have one band that I listen to over and over again every week so I figured, why not share it with everyone else?!
This week, it happens to be The Accidental from the UK. Give them a listen!
Some select photos from their show that happened last Tuesday, previously written about here.

If you’re looking for something to do tonight, my friends’ band, Lost Eras in Aviation, is having their hometown debut at the M Room here in Philly. Here are the details:

The lineup:

After waiting so long for Liam Finn to come to come to Philadelphia on a solo debut, he finally did. A few friends and I got to see him last night at World Cafe Live. Liam Finn is the son of Neil Finn, singer from Crowded House. He was an opener for the show so he was out selling his shirts and cds at intermission. Of course, I forgot to stop and get money before the show. And then the ATM was broken at the venue so I decided that it was a sign that I should not have a shirt. However, Valerie helped me grow the balls to at least get a picture with him because as she said “you have to! this is a once in a lifetime chance because someday he’s going to be famous!”. Oh, and we talked him into giving us a discount on a t-shirt for me. yay! I think he thought I was out of my mind. The truth is, I probably was. Can you tell from the photo that I was a bit giddy? Only slightly. And I look half drunk. I probably should have been so I didn’t make a fool of myself. Anyway, this photo is set for my ringtone so that his photo pops up on my phone when he calls me, ya know…duh. I have nothing of substance to write for today so that is all. Carry on now.
